VELUX Certified Installer
VELUX® Skylight Installation
Bring natural light and fresh air into your home. KRC is a VELUX Certified Installer, installing and replacing VELUX skylights and Sun Tunnel skylights that are flashed and sealed by roofers who know how to keep water out.
Light From Above Changes Everything
A skylight is one of the simplest ways to change how a room feels. Daylight from overhead reaches deeper into a space than light from a wall window, and a venting skylight lets warm, stale air escape. Because a skylight is an opening in your roof, it has to be installed as part of the roof system, framed, flashed and sealed correctly. That is what we do every day, and it is why KRC is proud to be a VELUX Certified Installer. VELUX has been designing skylights since 1941.
More Natural Light
Brighten kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces with daylight that makes rooms feel larger and more open, and spend less time with the lights on.
Fresh Air on Demand
Venting skylights open to release heat, steam and cooking odors, pulling fresh air through your home. Solar and electric models open and close by remote.
VELUX Certified Installers
Most skylight leaks come from poor installation, not the skylight. As VELUX certified roofers, our crews install every unit to VELUX standards with genuine VELUX flashing tied into your roof.
The VELUX Lineup
Find the Right Skylight for Your Home

Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylights
A small solar panel charges a concealed battery that opens and closes the skylight by remote, so no wiring is needed. A built-in rain sensor closes it automatically at the first sign of rain. This is our go-to choice when replacing an older skylight.

Electric Fresh Air Skylights
Remote-controlled venting skylights powered by your home's electricity. A great fit for new construction, additions and remodels where wiring is easy to run.

Manual Fresh Air Skylights
Open by hand with a turning handle, or with a telescoping control rod for skylights out of reach. A simple, budget-friendly way to add ventilation to bathrooms, kitchens and lofts.

Fixed Skylights
A clean, low profile on the roofline and plenty of daylight below. Fixed skylights do not open, which makes them ideal for stairwells, hallways and vaulted ceilings where light, not airflow, is the goal.

Sun Tunnel® Skylights
A roof-mounted dome connects to a highly reflective tunnel that carries sunlight down to a ceiling fixture that looks like a recessed light. Perfect for hallways, closets, bathrooms and other small spaces where a full skylight will not fit, and usually a quick, cost-effective project.

Skylight Shades
VELUX Skylight Systems come with a pre-installed, solar-powered room-darkening shade, so you control the light from day one. Light-filtering and blackout options in a range of colors are also available.
Deck-mounted or curb-mounted? Deck-mounted skylights sit low and sleek on pitched roofs. Curb-mounted models fit over a site-built curb, which makes them a good fit for low-slope roofs and many replacement projects. We will recommend the right option for your roof.

Laminated glass for safety, an exterior coating that helps rain rinse the glass clean, and reduced outside noise. It lets in daylight while blocking much of the summer heat and UV rays that fade furniture and floors.

Skylight FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to install a skylight?
It depends on the type of skylight (fixed, manual, electric, solar or Sun Tunnel), its size, your roof and the interior finish work needed. After a free inspection we give you a clear written estimate, so you know exactly what your project costs before any work starts.
Will a skylight leak?
Not when it is installed correctly. Most skylight leaks come from poor installation or worn-out flashing, not the skylight itself. VELUX No Leak Skylights installed with genuine VELUX flashing are backed by a 10-year installation warranty, and as a VELUX Certified Installer we install every unit to VELUX standards.
Can you replace my old skylight?
Yes. If your current skylight is leaking, foggy or outdated, we can replace it with a new VELUX skylight. Solar Powered Fresh Air skylights are a popular upgrade because they need no wiring. If you are planning a new roof, that is the ideal time to replace skylights so everything is flashed together.
What is the difference between a skylight and a Sun Tunnel?
A traditional skylight is a window in your roof that gives you a view of the sky and, on venting models, fresh air. A Sun Tunnel skylight uses a dome on the roof and a reflective tunnel to carry daylight to a ceiling fixture. Sun Tunnels are ideal for hallways, closets and bathrooms where a full skylight will not fit.
What happens if it rains while my skylight is open?
VELUX Solar Powered and Electric Fresh Air skylights have a built-in rain sensor that closes the skylight automatically at the first sign of rain. Manual skylights are opened and closed by hand.
Will a skylight make my room too hot?
VELUX glass is designed to let in daylight while blocking much of the summer heat and UV rays. Adding a shade gives you even more control, and venting skylights let built-up hot air escape.
Can a skylight be installed on my type of roof?
VELUX flashing systems are made for virtually all roof types and slopes. Deck-mounted skylights suit pitched roofs, and curb-mounted skylights work well on low-slope roofs. We will recommend the right setup during your inspection.
How long does skylight installation take?
Many single skylight and Sun Tunnel installations can be completed in about a day, depending on the project and interior finish work. We will give you a timeline with your estimate.
